  1. United Nations International day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade is annually observed across the globe on 25 March to honour and remember those who suffered and died as a consequence of the transatlantic slave trade. The theme of 2023 is “Fighting slavery’s legacy of racism through transformative education”.
  2. The United Nations observes the International Day of Solidarity with Detained and Missing Staff Members on 25 March every year to honor the memory of Alec Collett, a journalist who died while on a UN mission after being kidnapped and to recognise the dangers encountered by the UN staff members as they carry out their work for the UN.
  3. The Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi has been ranked 48th globally with a score of 80 and listed as one of the top 50 institutions in the world for Engineering and Technology in the 13th edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023.
  4. The Abel Prize for mathematics has been awarded to Argentine-American Luis Caffarelli, an expert in ‘partial differential equations’ which can explain phenomena ranging from how water flows to population growth.
  5. Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) launched the ‘Stories of Change’, a series of captivating journeys of 15 change-makers from grassroots.
  6. According to the 2023 M3M Hurun Global Rich List, India is ranked third in terms of the number of billionaires with a total of 105 on the list.
  7. Indian team’s star hockey player Rani Rampal has become the first Indian woman hockey player to have a stadium named after her, in Rae Bareli. The MCF Rae Bareli has renamed the hockey stadium to ‘Rani’s Girls Hockey Turf’ in her honor.
  8. The 26th edition of ‘Elevate Expo’ was held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
  9. Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav chaired the first General Body Meeting of the National Centre for Sustainable Coastal Management (NCSCM) in New Delhi on 22 March, 2023.

  12. On 18 March 2023, ATK Mohun Bagan (ATKMB) Football Club won their first Indian Super League (ISL) title by defeating Bengaluru FC in the finals of Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2022-23 held in Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Margao, Goa.
  13. PM Narendra Modi on 22 March, 2023 launched an app called ‘Call Before u Dig (CBuD)’ app to aid excavation.
  14. The INS Androth, second in a series of eight Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW SWC), was launched in Kolkata on 21 March, 2023.
  15. Kylian Mbappe took over as captain of France after Hugo Loris stepped down following the world Cup final defeat to Argentina.
  16. On 23 March 2023, Abhay Chhajlani, veteran Journalist and Padma Shri awardee (2009) passed away in Indore, Madhya Pradesh at the age of 88.
